Japanese blue and white Arita dish, Genroku c. 1700, painted in the Chinese 'Kraak ' style, the centre with a jardiniere containing flowers on a terrace with an insect above, the border with wide panels alternatively decorated with a flowering plant and a Buddhist good luck knot motif with narrow panels inbetween. The reverse with the usual stilt marks, diameter: 42 cm, condition: perfect
