Late Victorian Gold Collar - Saddingtons Jewellery Stand 375

£6,500.00

Description

This Late Victorian Gold Collar is a striking example of late 19th-century gold jewellery. Crafted in rich 15ct yellow gold, the beautiful fully articulated collar is formed from multiple rows of closely linked gold sections, finished with a delicate fringe of polished circular gold drops that move beautifully when worn. Designed to sit closely and elegantly around the neckline, it has that wonderful combination of substantial Victorian craftsmanship and an unexpectedly contemporary appearance. Gold collars of this type became particularly fashionable during the later Victorian period, with surviving 15ct examples dating to around 1880–1890. A fabulous statement piece of antique jewellery that is remarkably wearable today — and a particularly lovely example of the bold gold jewellery of the late Victorian era. The piece measures 16.5 inches and is 47.9g. Please contact us if you would like to know more about this amazing necklace or visit us at Saddingtons Jewellery, Mayfair.
