Description

Japanese Imari barber's bowl, c.1700, decorated with branches of peony and chrysanthemum with sprouting grasses issuing from rockwork, the wide rim with further peony and chrysanthemum gently curving with the bowl's edge; the reverse with meandering foliate scroll and flowerheads, the foot encircled by a swirling pattern in iron-red.
